Intravenous injections of growth hormone-releasing factor stimulated rapid growth hormone release in prepubertal calves within 15 minutes, and calves could respond to repeated injections over a 42-hour period. While trends toward increased nitrogen retention, somatomedin C levels, and weight gain were observed with 10 days of pulsatile GRF treatment in bull calves, these improvements were variable and not statistically significant.
