Thymosin alpha-1 inhibited the growth and migration of human lung cancer cells while boosting the activity of protective antioxidant enzymes and reducing harmful reactive oxygen species. Interestingly, the anti-cancer effects did not involve triggering programmed cell death (apoptosis), suggesting the peptide works through alternative mechanisms to slow cancer cell proliferation.
