Researchers developed a sensitive analytical method using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry to simultaneously measure both natural thymosin alpha-1 and its recombinant form in human blood and urine. When tested in healthy volunteers, the method revealed that the recombinant form undergoes natural chemical modification in the body to become identical to natural thymosin alpha-1, but the reverse conversion does not occur.
