This review examines whether thymosin alpha-1, known for its immune-boosting properties, could help prevent infections in patients with severe acute pancreatitis, a condition where infection is the leading cause of death. Early clinical evidence suggests thymosin alpha-1 has a protective effect against pancreatitis-related infections, but larger, high-quality trials are still needed.
