Stroke patients who received Semax during rehabilitation showed higher blood levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) — a protein important for brain repair — throughout the study period, regardless of when rehabilitation began. Higher BDNF levels correlated with faster and better functional recovery and improved independence scores. The data indicate that Semax accelerates post-stroke recovery both by boosting BDNF and by complementing the benefits of early rehabilitation.
