This study demonstrated that both thymosin alpha-1 and thymulin reduced pulmonary metastases and prolonged survival in mice injected with syngeneic fibrosarcoma cells. Thymosin alpha-1 at 0.1 μg per injection over 2-3 weeks was effective, as was thymulin at 0.01 μg. The anti-tumor effect was dependent on tumor load. Notably, thymosin alpha-1's effects persisted longer—mice rechallenged 150 days later showed increased tumor resistance, while thymulin-treated mice did not, suggesting different mechanisms of action and potential for durable anti-tumor immunity with thymosin alpha-1.
