Researchers used implantable osmotic pumps to deliver growth hormone-releasing factor analogs continuously under the skin for one week in steers and lambs. While the natural sermorelin peptide was difficult to deliver this way due to solubility limitations, two modified analogs successfully elevated growth hormone levels 2.7 to 4.3-fold, demonstrating that sustained subcutaneous infusion of GRF analogs is a feasible approach for boosting growth hormone in livestock.
