This study confirmed that cholera toxin B subunit binds with high affinity to human T lymphocytes and that thymosin alpha-1, interferon alpha, and the LKEKK peptide all compete for the same binding site. The binding of cholera toxin B or LKEKK to this shared receptor on T cells specifically activated soluble guanylate cyclase without affecting membrane-bound forms of the enzyme.
