This review summarizes the rationale for using thymosin alpha-1 in HIV-1 infection, noting that even with antiretroviral therapy, patients often have incomplete immune recovery and persistent inflammation. Thymosin alpha-1's ability to restore immune balance across multiple conditions makes it a promising candidate for combination therapy to address the immune gaps left by standard HIV treatment.
