Researchers found that two growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) activating compounds (MR-409 and MR-502) stimulated the growth and survival of human skin cells by more than 50% in the lab. When applied to wounds in animals, MR-409 accelerated healing in a dose-dependent manner, with treated wounds closing faster and showing less scarring than untreated ones. These compounds represent a promising new approach to wound healing, as they are highly resistant to breakdown by enzymes that inactivate other growth factors.
