Both intranasal and intramuscular salmon calcitonin significantly reduced the growth hormone response to GHRH in healthy volunteers, with peak growth hormone levels dropping by more than half. The intranasal route was at least as effective as the intramuscular route at suppressing GHRH-stimulated growth hormone release. This confirms calcitonin's inhibitory effect on growth hormone secretion and demonstrates that nasal delivery is a viable and effective administration method.
