Eight children with partial growth hormone insufficiency were treated with continuous subcutaneous GHRH infusions, and all showed increased growth hormone secretion and improved growth velocity after three to six months of therapy. The study built on earlier adult data showing no desensitization during continuous GHRH delivery, confirming that this approach works in children as well. These results support the development of sustained-release GHRH preparations as a potential alternative to growth hormone injections for treating growth hormone-deficient children.
