A study of 20 normal tall men found that they had significantly greater growth hormone responses to GHRH injection compared to men of average height, with larger rises at 15 and 30 minutes and a greater total response overall. Basal growth hormone levels also tended to be higher in the tall group. The researchers suggest that if this enhanced pituitary responsiveness to GHRH is a lifelong trait, it could partly explain why these individuals grew taller.
