Plasma levels of thymosin alpha-1 were found to be significantly lower in renal cell carcinoma patients compared to those with urothelial or benign urological conditions, and levels correlated inversely with cancer stage. In bladder cancer patients specifically, low plasma thymosin alpha-1 was a prognostic indicator for disease progression and survival, suggesting it could serve as a useful blood-based biomarker.
