Combining two hormone-blocking compounds -- one targeting growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and the other targeting luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) -- produced a 30% reduction in prostate size in rats with enlarged prostates. The combination was more effective than either compound alone and significantly lowered levels of multiple inflammatory and growth markers in prostate tissue. These results suggest that dual hormone blockade could be a promising new approach for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
