Chronic administration of epithalamin modulated circadian locomotor activity in rats, activating animals with low rhythm amplitude while dampening those with strong circadian fluctuations. The peptide also altered apomorphine-induced stereotypy in a time-dependent manner, suggesting that pineal peptides help maintain homeostatic balance by stabilizing rhythmic processes.
