In a mouse model of sepsis, thymosin alpha-1 treatment improved 72-hour survival by promoting the death of regulatory T cells and rebalancing the immune response. The peptide helped control both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, suggesting that regulating regulatory T cells is an important part of how thymosin alpha-1 combats sepsis.
