A single dose of cortisone acetate significantly reduced the growth hormone response to GHRH in healthy adults in a dose-dependent manner. The findings suggest that glucocorticoids acutely inhibit GH secretion, likely by enhancing somatostatin release from the hypothalamus, which is clinically relevant for interpreting GH testing in patients taking corticosteroids.
