Pigs immunized against growth hormone-releasing factor developed antibodies that abolished the normal pulsatile pattern of GH secretion and reduced IGF-1 levels. This study confirms that endogenous GRF is essential for maintaining normal episodic growth hormone release in pigs, with implications for understanding how the GH axis can be manipulated in livestock.
