Simple proline-containing peptides - including Gly-Pro, Pro-Gly, Pro-Gly-Pro, and Semax - were each given intranasally to rats before stressful immobilization. All four peptides prevented the blood-clotting abnormalities that stress normally triggers, boosting anticoagulant and fibrinolytic activity instead. The short dipeptides showed the strongest antistress effect, but Semax also provided substantial protection against stress-induced clotting.
