Scientists developed a cost-effective biotechnological method for producing recombinant thymosin alpha-1 by combining bacterial protein expression, enzymatic cleavage, and chemical acetylation. The optimized process yielded 29 mg of the therapeutic peptide per liter of bacterial culture, offering a practical alternative to conventional chemical synthesis.
