Researchers showed that pyridostigmine, a drug that boosts cholinergic nerve activity, dramatically enhanced the growth hormone response to GHRH at all doses tested in healthy adults. The findings suggest that reducing somatostatin tone through cholinergic stimulation shifts the GHRH dose-response curve, allowing much smaller doses of GHRH to produce robust GH release.
