This study demonstrated for the first time that GHRH acts as a growth factor in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) cells and that GHRH antagonists can reverse this effect. The antagonists suppressed BPH cell proliferation by blocking the ERK1/2 and JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathways, suggesting a potential new approach for treating enlarged prostate conditions.
