This study tracked somatostatin levels in children receiving long-term GHRH therapy and found that after three months of treatment, circulating somatostatin levels increased in both baseline and nighttime measurements. The rise in somatostatin, possibly originating from the gut rather than the brain, may be relevant to understanding how the body adapts to prolonged GHRH stimulation.
