This study showed that growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) stimulates the growth of human neuroendocrine tumor cells and increases their secretion of VEGF (a blood vessel growth factor) and chromogranin A. These findings indicate that GHRH functions as a trophic hormone for bronchial neuroendocrine tumors, potentially contributing to their progression.
