After a single dose of Semax, the expression of two key brain growth factor genes - NGF and BDNF - was tracked across multiple time points in the hippocampus, frontal cortex, and retina. The changes were complex and region-specific: both genes initially dipped in the hippocampus and retina before rising, while the frontal cortex showed early increases. The findings map out the timing of Semax's neurotrophic effects and suggest different brain regions respond at different rates.
