Researchers found that giving clonidine before a continuous infusion of growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) dramatically changed the pattern of growth hormone release in healthy men. Clonidine pretreatment increased the total amount of GH secreted and produced a more natural pulsatile pattern, likely by suppressing somatostatin, raising the possibility of combining clonidine with GRF therapy for children with short stature.
