This study explored using specially conditioned donor dendritic cells after bone marrow transplantation to simultaneously fight fungal infections and prevent graft-versus-host disease. Thymosin alpha-1 was found to modulate plasmacytoid dendritic cell function through TLR9 signaling, activating a tolerance-inducing pathway that promoted regulatory T cell development while still allowing effective antifungal immunity.
