Scientists synthesized a novel thymosin alpha-1 derivative designed for radiolabeling with technetium-99m, a common medical imaging isotope. The derivative was produced at high yield and purity using solid-phase peptide synthesis and was efficiently radiolabeled, creating what may be the first such tagged version of thymosin alpha-1 that could be used to study how the peptide works in living systems.
