Gene therapy delivering both thymosin alpha-1 and interferon omega-1 genes via liposomes inhibited liver tumor growth by 43% in mice, significantly more than either gene alone. The dual-gene approach worked by inducing tumor cell death (apoptosis), demonstrating that combined gene therapy with these two immune factors could be a promising anti-cancer strategy.
