Researchers developed antibodies against prothymosin alpha (the precursor of thymosin alpha-1) by immunizing hens, producing egg yolk antibodies that were obtained in larger quantities and with better specificity than rabbit-derived antibodies. The hen-derived antibodies could better distinguish between prothymosin alpha and thymosin alpha-1, providing improved tools for research on these immune-related peptides.
