This study examined how sermorelin (GRF(1-29)NH2) interacts with blood plasma proteins and how those interactions affect its release from a biodegradable implant material. The peptide was found to precipitate in plasma due to binding with proteins like albumin and immunoglobulins, but when delivered from a slow-release implant in rats, enough peptide still reached the bloodstream to measurably increase growth hormone levels. Adding the amino acid arginine improved the peptide's solubility in plasma.
