Growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) treatment in growing beef steers significantly increased nitrogen retention and improved diet digestibility, shifting the body's energy use toward building more protein rather than storing fat. At both low and high feed intakes, GRF-treated steers retained roughly double the nitrogen compared to controls, though overall tissue energy retention and maintenance energy needs were unaffected.
