Researchers found that growth hormone-releasing factor stimulates the proliferation of bovine ovarian granulosa cells in a dose-dependent manner, while the related peptide VIP had no such effect. Interestingly, GRF increased cell numbers without affecting progesterone production, suggesting it promotes cell growth rather than hormone-producing differentiation. This finding points to a potential role for GRF in follicle development in cattle ovaries, separate from its well-known function in growth hormone release.
