A study comparing 20 tall and 20 short healthy young men who had completed growth found no significant differences in their growth hormone secretion, whether measured spontaneously overnight or in response to various stimulation tests including GHRH and insulin. IGF-I levels were also identical between groups. This suggests that the amount of growth hormone a person produces is not a major determinant of final adult height in otherwise healthy individuals.
